Buying or selling seismic without showing your hand
In this market, interest itself is information. How deals stay confidential from first call to close.
In oil and gas, the fact that a company is looking at an area can be valuable information on its own. A buyer asking around about data over a specific block can signal its strategy to competitors, and a seller openly marketing a library can weaken its position.
That is why seismic deals usually run behind non-disclosure agreements. Before any detail is shared, both sides sign an NDA that limits who can see what and what they can do with it.
Sellers can then share coverage maps, survey parameters and sample lines with serious buyers, without releasing the full dataset. Buyers can review enough to judge the data before they commit.
A broker adds another layer: introductions can be made without naming either party until both are ready. The buyer's target area and the seller's identity stay private while the fit is tested.
Our process is built around this. Nothing beyond a high-level description leaves the first call until an NDA is in place, and every introduction is approved by our client first.
